Apollo by Thomas Joynes
Fabricated bronze with artisan patina on a mirror polished stainless steel plinth.
58cm H (inc plinth) x 47cm W x 25cm D.
Edition 1 of 19.
Thomas took the inspiration for the original Apollo (in brass) from the Fibonacci Sequence, whereby each number is the sum of the two preceding it. This golden ratio provides the foundation for many of the structures within nature, including seeds, flowers, petals, pine cones, fruit and vegetables. While the sculpture’s proportions do not adhere strictly to the mathematics, the form flows and curves from every angle. He created this bronze edition of Apollo, because it is one of his favourite and most successful pieces to date. Best suited to an interior setting, the patina is lacquered and waxed to prevent discolouration. It is presented on a stainless steel base.
