Thomas designed the original Halo in mirror-polished steel for the walled Spider’s Garden of Hoveton Hall in Norfolk. His concept for the commission was to create a large, mirrored sculpture that would reflect the extensive flora of the garden, with stainless steel micro wires to suggest a spider’s web. It has clear reference to the artist’s love and admiration for the works of Barbara Hepworth, in particular the use of apertures to lead the viewer’s eye. This version is a one-off table top version of the original design, made in mirror-polished copper set on a mirrored stainless steel plinth.
